Profile of Shazia Zafar

 

Shazia Zafar, MD received her MD degree from Rawalpindi Medical College with honors in 1999. Dr. Zafar completed her internship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center at Amarillo, Department of Internal Medicine, Amarillo, Texas. She then joined Creighton University Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine in Omaha, NE and completed her residency. Dr. Zafar completed her fellowship in Hematology-Oncology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Zafar holds board certifications in internal medicine and oncology, and she practice medicine in the area of adult hematology- oncology, which includes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood diseases (Hematology) and various types of cancers (Oncology). Dr. Zafar holds many affiliations with several professional societies which, include but are not limited to, the following: Florida Medical Association, American College of Physician, American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She also holds a faculty position at the NOVA Southeast University, Florida.

Dr. Zafar has extensive research experience and she has performed research at several top rated cancer centers and universities including the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas; the Cancer Center at Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska and at the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida. Dr. Zafar has published her research as co-author in top tier journals. She has also presented her research in the form of poster at various international conferences. Dr. Zafar has also delivered lectures pertaining to various types of cancers both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Zafar speaks English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi fluently. Dr. Zafar is involved in various clinical trials. She is serving as Principal Investigator and Co- Principal Investigator on various studies.
